Welcome to
Midwest Marsupial Carers Inc.
Our Vision
Our vision is to make a meaningful contribution to sustainable wildlife conservation within Western Australia, to protect and support our dedicated carers, and provide community awareness and education about current and evolving marsupial issues

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide prompt, efficient, and safe responses to distressed and orphaned marsupials, guided by strong ethical practices and well-informed decision-making processes. We advocate for and support not only the animals in our care but also our dedicated carers, without whom our work would not be possible.
As a non-profit organisation reliant on donations and fundraising, we are committed to giving back to our community through education and collaboration. Ultimately, we aim to create a brighter future for wildlife and inspire a new generation of carers to join us in our mission.

Our journey began with a deep love for Australia’s vast landscapes and wildlife. Our passion for nature led us to rescue and raise orphaned kangaroos, starting with a little joey named Jessy. With guidance from experienced veterinarians and support from Midwest Marsupial Carer Inc (MMCI), we’ve spent over 20 years dedicating ourselves to the care, rehabilitation, and release of kangaroos. While this journey has been emotional and challenging, it has been incredibly rewarding. We invite others to join us in this meaningful mission.
TJ and Ian Ramshaw
I am a proud member of Midwest Marsupial Carers Inc (MMCI), and together with my husband Ian, we run The Kangy Shack—a sanctuary for orphaned joeys on six acres in White Peak. For over 25 years, we’ve dedicated our lives to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing kangaroos, balancing our time between our business and caring for these beautiful animals.
My love for wildlife started young—I was more interested in looking after skinks and snails than dolls! Inspired by ‘Skippy the Bush Kangaroo,’ I pursued veterinary nursing and had the privilege of working with incredible vets who fueled my dream of running a rescue. With guidance from my mentor, Sue Turner, that dream became reality.
Every joey is unique, and while this journey is challenging, it’s also deeply rewarding. With the support of MMCI and fellow carers, we remain committed to giving these incredible animals a second chance at life in the wild.
